The Therapeutic Effects of Uterine Arterial Embolization(UAE) in the Treatment of Adenomyosis

Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effects of uterine arterial embolization(UAE) in treatment of Adenomyosis.Methods:Total 76 patients with adenomyosis were enrolled and treated by UAE with Kelt Microsphere Gelatin.The degree of dysmenorrhea,amount of bleeding,uterine volume,the resistance index(RI) of bilateral uterine arteries,and the ovarian function were investigated on the 1,3,and 6 months after treatment.Results:The degree of dysmenorrhea and amount of bleeding decreased significantly on the 6th month after treatment(P0.01,P0.05).The uterine volume decreased 17.21%,25.37%,39.86% on the 1,3,and 6 month after UAE.RI decreased significantly six months after UAE(P0.05).No difference was found in the levels of FSH,LH,and E2 before and after UAE.Conclusions:UAE may have safely therapeutic effects on treatment of Adenomyosis,without adverse effect on the ovarian function.
