68GA-BED003 FAP-targeted PET/MRI for endometriosis assessment - initial results
This retrospective study evaluated 68Ga-OncoFAP (developmental 68Ga-BED003) FAP-targeted PET/MRI or PET/CT in two groups of premenopausal women: nine with confirmed endometriosis and nine without known endometriosis, using standard MRI sequences combined with semi-quantitative assessment of tracer uptake and modified #ENZIAN segmentation; clinical assessment or laparoscopy was used when available as reference. PET/MRI detected more endometriosis-related findings than MRI alone, identifying at least one endometriosis-related finding in 6 of 7 patients on PET/MRI review versus all on combined review, and classifying 45 of 91 segments (49.5%) as likely endometriotic versus 17 of 91 segments (18.7%) with MRI alone. The study reports significantly higher focal tracer uptake in the test group with PET datasets compared with MRI and includes limited sample size and uneven use of PET/MRI versus PET/CT as caveats.
