Abstract
Objective To investigate the presentation and the clinical significance of p16 protein in ovarian endometriosis. Methods The expression of p16 was detected by means of immunohistochemistry in 43 specimens from ovarian endometriosis and in 27 specimens from normal endometria. Results p16 in ovarian endometriosis was clearly lower than that in normal endometria with a statistical significance(P0.05).The lower expression of p16 in ovarian endometriosis was not related to dysmenorrhea, abnormal menstruation and barrenness, but to the size of cysts, the depth of ectopic intimal imbibition and the imbibition condition in pelvic cavity(P0.05).Conclusion p16 protein is closely related to the development of ovarian endometriosis.
