Abstract

Objective To investigate the diagnostic difference between histopathology of biopsies and visualized diagnosis at laparoscopy of endometriosis, and to correlate with clinic feature and the sites of taken. Methods 71 patients who were visualized laparoscopic diagnosed endometriosis at General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, between Jan.2010 and Jan.2011.A retrospective review with a clear record of clinic feature, sites, morphology, and the site of biopsy taken. The histopathologic diagnosis of the biopsies sampled was followed-up.Correlation and valuation for diagnostic variability were assessed. Results Histopathologic diagnosis was confirmed in 48 cases(67.6%) and correlated with chronic pelvic pain. The site of the lesion has not influenced the histopathologic diagnosis. Conclusion Laparoscopic visualization of endometriosis is not related with histopathologic diagnosis;several other lesions may mimic endometriosis on histopathologic examination.
