Abstract

Objective To explore the role of osteopontin and integrin αvβ3 on the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods 89 cases with endometriosis by surgery were randomly chosen.Immunohistochemisty was used to detect the expression of OPN and integrin αvβ3 in eutopic and ectopic endometrium. The same detection was used to the normal endometrium of the patients without endometriosis during the same period as control. The relationship between OPN and integrinαvβ3 was also explored. Results OPN was mainly expressed in endometrial glandular cells.OPN and integrin αvβ3 expressions in ectopic endometrium of the patients with endometriosis were significantly higher than that in eutopic endomerium. There was great difference of OPN and integrinαvβ3 expression between eutopic and normal endometrium.OPN and integrin αvβ3 were related in endometriosis. Conclusion The study showed significantly higher expression of integrin β3 and OPN in endometriosis, which may be related to the pathogenesis and development of endometriosis.
