Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of intrauterine device(IUD)-Mirena in treatment of adenomyosis. Methods:Thirty-five patients with adenomyosis were treated with Mirena,VAS score was carried out before treatment and at one,three,and six months after treatment;the changes of plasma P substance,the amount of menstruation,the thickness of endometrium,the menstrual cycle,and uterine volume were analyzed by t test. Results:Among 35 patients,except one patient with removed IUD,the degree of dysmenorrhea among the other thirty-four patients at six months after treatment was relieved significantly,VAS score and plasma P substance decreased significantly,the amount of menstruation decreased compared with those before treatment,the thickness of endometrium became thin,the menstrual cycle shortened significantly(P0.05).The uterine volume decreased correspondingly,but there was no significant difference(P0.05). Conclusion:Mirena is effective in treatment of adenomyosis.
