Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of aromatase cytochrome P450(P450arom) in endometrium of endometriosis patients. Methods:The expression of P450arom was examined by immunohistochemistry in endometrium of 63 patients with endometriosis,40 patients with benign gynecologic diseases and 30 normal control women. Results:The positive expression rate of P450arom was 0 in normal endometrium tissues,17.50% in tissues of benign gynecologic diseases(0.22±0.16) and 80.95% in endometriosis with the expression level of 0.57±0.26(P 0.05).The expression of P450arom was not related to the menstrual periods, which were proliferative phase and secretory phase(P 0.05).The expression of P450arom was enhanced with the clinical stage, but there was no statistic significance(r = 0.226,P 0.05).Conclusion:The higher-expression of P450arom in endometrium was related to the development of endometriosis. The expression of P450arom may be one of parameters for understanding the endometriosis.
