Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I)and Bcl-2 in PCOS patients with or without insulin resistance. Methods 92 PCOS patients with or without insulin resistance underwent endometrium biopsies. The expression of IGF-I and Bcl-2 were determined immunohistochemically. Results The expression of IGF-I protein in PCOS patients with insulin resistance (203.54±18.29) was significantly higher than that in the PCOS patients without insulin resistance (187.22±15.46,P0.001);The expression of Bcl-2 protein in PCOS patients with insulin resistance was 200.94±15.43 and 188.69±18.72 in non-insulin resistance group. There was significantly difference between the groups (P0.01). A positive correlation was observed between the expression of IGF-I and Bcl-2(r=0.42,P0.001).Conclusion The high incidence of hyperplasia in PCOS patients with insulin resistance may be correlated with IGF-I and Bcl-2.
