Macrophage contributes to the development of adenomyosis

Abstract

Objective To explore the roles of macrophage in the pathogenesis of adenomypsis(AM).Methods The clinical study included three groups :the adenomyosis group, the leiomyoma group and adenomyosis aassociated with leiomyom group(n = 20 in each group). The expression of macrophage CD68 in the ectopic endometrium and junction zone of each group was determined by immunohistochemical method.Results ① The expression of CD68 in junction zone in AM group was significant higher than that of leiomyom group and normal group (P 0.05), but it didn't show significant difference between leiomyom group and normal group. ② The expression of CD68 in adenomyoma tissue in study group was remarkably higer than that in myoma tissue in control group (P0.05). ③ The CD68 expressison in adenomyoma tissues was higher than that in myoma tissues in the same patients (P0.05). ④ A significant increase expression of CD68 also occurred in the adenomyoma tissues compare with that in junction zone in adenomyosis group. Conclusion Macrophage may play an important role in the pathogenesis of AM.
