Abstract

Chlamydia is a major cause of pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility, but there are recognised problems in notifying partners. In the UK, standard practice is to treat patients and ask them to refer partners to general practice or a sexual health clinic, and they are then invited for assessment. The practice is known as partner notification (PN).
