Abstract
Background: The prognosis of a mermaid fetus is poor, and it should not be missed during prenatal examinations. Case: We report a case of a full-term pregnant woman who delivered a mermaid baby by cesarean section. The infant presented with typical mermaid features and died within a few hours after birth. Conclusion: This highlights the need for improved prenatal diagnosis and quality of ultrasonography in many Chinese hospitals.
