Abstract
Objective To assess the clinical effects of uterine arterial embolization (UAE) with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in the treatment of adenomyosis. Methods UAE was performed in 26 patients with adenomyosis with PVA particles (250-500 μm) . All patients were followed-up after the operation. Results Clinical symptoms of all 26 patients relieved obviously. The symptoms of pain completely disappeared in 21 patients and relieved significantly in 3 patients after UAE. The volume of uterine decreased significantly. The symptoms of 2 patients recurrenced 7-9 months after reliving. Conclusion UAE with PVA is an effective and less invasive method to treat adenomyosis.
