Therefore, the present study was done to estimate the contribution of wood products available in various buildings of a college campus to the carbon sequestration. Directory inventory method was used for estimating the volume of wood products in hostel, mess, sports equipment, library, class room etc. Total carbon present in these items was calculated by considering the type of material like solid wood, plywood, particle board and MDF. The non wood material such as steel and iron used in these premises were also considered for volume estimation to calculate the possible carbon sequestration if replaced by wood products. The study showed that total 6011.82 kg carbon can be sequestered in hostel building, 167.15 kg in mess units, 93.15 kg in sports units, 1151.09 kg in classroom units, 203.59 kg in lab units, 1689.19 kg in library units. The findings also indicated that 21530.64 kg more carbon can be sequestrated if the non-wood material replaced by wood products. The study indicated prominent role of small wood products in carbon capturing, which recommend the use of wood products in the building component and furniture especially in forest college campus.
