Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of hypothalamic G protein-coupled receptor 54(GPR54) mRNA in female rats with precocious puberty and its effect on progress of precocious puberty.Methods Forty normal female rats at 5 days of age were divided into 4 groups randomly,10 rats per group.Model groups were given a single subcutaneous injection of 300 μg danazol to induce true precocious puberty.The vaginal smears were examined and weights of body,uterus and ovary were measured;serum luteinizing hormone concentrations were measured by Chemiluminescence.The expression of GPR54 mRNA was assayed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR.Results GPR54 mRNA levels in hypothalamus increased 1.38 fold from prepubertal stage to early precocious puberty(P0.01) and 1.94 fold to middle precocious puberty(P0.01);there was no significant statistical difference between the expresseion GPR54 mRNA level of normal early puberty and early precocious puberty.Conclusion GPR54 may play an important role in onset and development of precocious puberty.
