CiteSpace visualizations identify two patterns: Domestically, China developed four regional clusters—Xinjiang (historical verification), Shaanxi (cultural-tourism integration), Zhejiang (technological innovation), and Hunan (digital narratives)—showing eastward academic migration with limited collaboration. Globally, a tri-polar network connects Central Asia (heritage studies), East Asia (technical standards), and Europe (symbolic analysis) through interdisciplinary exchanges. Three evolutionary phases emerged: material analysis (2013–2015), media transformation (2016–2020), and digital ecosystem development (2021–2024), revealing tensions between digital accessibility and cultural misinterpretation. The proposed model integrates symbolic translation, adaptive media, and networked collaboration to reconcile heritage authenticity with innovation. The findings demonstrate how regional digital storytelling platforms are reshaping global cultural flows, emphasizing localized narratives over uniform digitization.
