Abstract

147 women were the object of examination: 51 healthy women 50 with cancer of the endometrium 27 with endometriosis and 19 with cancer of the uterus. The levels of gonadotropin and growth hormone were determined. The excretion of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) was found to be higher in patients of reproductive age and in the climacteric period who suffer from precancer of the endometrium and endometriosis. This excretion is found to be lower in patients who are in menopause and suffering from precancer of the endometrium. The excretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) was found to fluctuate widely. In the cases of endometrial cancer the excretion of LH was found to rise and that of FSH to fall. The level of growth hormone secretion was found to be reduced in all patients in comparison with the healthy patients.(Authors modified)
