Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical features of malignant neoplasms arising from endometriosis.Methods Retrospective analysis of 3 cases of malignant neoplasms arising from endometriosis from January 1995 to April 2006 by combining their clinical and pathological data and review of with literature.Results The malignant rate arising from endometriosis was 1.82%.The common symptoms and signs included pelvic masses,abdominal discomfort,abdominal pain and dysmenorrheal.The diagnosis were made by pathological examination after resection of the masses.1 patient was lost to follow-up.The other 2 patients were still alive after 42 and 55 months.Conclusion Malignant neoplasms arising from endometriosis is rare.Diagnosis could only been made by pathological examination after resection of the masses.Treatment modalities include resection of the tumor,chemotherapy,radiotherapy and hormone therapy.Early stage disease has a good prognosis.
