Splenic Endometriomas: A Case Report

This case report describes a rare presentation of a splenic endometrioma in a patient with known endometriosis, outlining her chief complaint, hospital course, and management of both the splenic lesion and associated symptoms. It further explores the proposed mechanisms of endometrioma formation and emphasizes the rarity of splenic involvement by comparing this case to those previously documented in the literature. By broadening the differential diagnosis for patients presenting with splenic cysts, this report encourages clinicians to consider endometriosis as a potential etiology. In doing so, it aims to raise awareness of the possibility of endometriotic involvement of the spleen and highlights considerations for diagnostic evaluation and management strategies to optimize patient outcomes. Ultimately, documenting this uncommon case underscores the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion for endometriosis in patients with unexplained splenic lesions. This report not only challenges the perception that such cases are exceedingly rare but also seeks to promote timely recognition, appropriate intervention, and improved symptom relief for affected patients.
