This educational exhibit describes a transvaginal, ultrasound-guided radiofrequency thermal-ablation technique for endometriotic ovarian cysts in patients of childbearing age, using dextrose solution injections intended to support heat conduction and convection for effective and safe ablation while preserving the ovary. The authors outline procedural steps performed under spinal or general anesthesia with antibiotic therapy and emphasize real-time ultrasound control to increase safety. They conclude from their experience that the approach is effective, safe, and well tolerated, but the text does not report quantitative outcomes, comparators, or formal limitations. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it focuses specifically on transvaginal ultrasound-guided radiofrequency thermal ablation of endometriotic ovarian cysts.

Background

Endometriosis is found in 10% of women of childbearing age. It is a chronic and recurrent benign disease, characterized by the proliferation of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity underestrogen stimulation. Acute and chronic inflammatory processes involve multiple organs, not just pelvic ones. This pathology has a significant impact on the quality of life. The most common symptoms are: dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, chronic pelvic pain, dysuria, dischezia. It also may has a potential negative impact on fertility [1]. Depending on the site, we can classify endometriosis... Findings and procedure details The treatment object has been proposed to patients of childbearing age with endometriotic cysts accessible by transvaginal route and wishing to preserve the ovary. The treatment was performed throughout its duration under transvaginal ultrasound guidance, allowing a real time control of ablation, increasing the overall safety of the procedure. Procedure step by step: Performing spinal or general anesthesia and premedication with antibiotic therapy; Correct positioning of the supine patient in a gynecological position (Fig.2); Preparation of the sterile field and disinfection of the transvaginal path;...

Conclusion

In our experience this procedure has proved to be a valid alternative in the treatment of endometriotic ovarian cysts accessible by transvaginal route, as it is effective, safe and well tolerated by patients.
