Abstract

A case of mesenteric infarct in a patient treated with Lyndiol for endometriosis is reported. Lyndiol was well tolerated for nearly 1 year; it was then replaced by Norluten. Emergency laparotomy 2 weeks later (acute abdomen) revealed mesenteric infarct involving the last 3 m of the ileum which was resected. Uterine pain had returned and complete hysterectomy and adnexectomy were performed at the same time as the uterus was very congested. In the authors view a causal relationship with Lyndiol appears probable as the symptomatology was aggravated when the dosage of Lyndiol was increased.
