Effects of peritoneal fluid from endometriosis patients on the proliferation and invasion of human endometrial stromal cells

Objective To investigate the effects of peritoneal fluid from endometriosis(EMs) patients on the proliferation and invasion of human endometrial stromal cells(ESC), and to supply evidences for studying the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods Endometrium and peritoneal fluid were obtained from patients with or without EMs, then ESC were purified from endometrium and cultured with peritoneal fluid. The proliferation and invasion of ESC were separately evaluated by BrdU assay and Transwell invasion assay. Results Peritoneal fluid from EMs patients could significantly promote the proliferation and invation of ESC(P 0.01 or P 0.05).Conclusions The peritoneal fluid from EMs patients could significantly up-regulate the proliferation and invasion of ESC. Therefore, this information would be helpful in further investigation on the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
