Abstract

A laparoscope of East German make was used for examination of 110 women suffering from gynecological diseases. The examination is facilitated by an injection of gas into the abdominal cavity, which expands the cavity allowing for greater visibility. This method was used in 108 exploratory examinations by means of injection through the navel. In 2 cases it was used in operative intervention through the incision to facilitate the operation. The device was sterilized either by means of formalin vapor or by boiling. 2 cases in which this device was successful in determining conditions warranting operative intervention, Rav. extraut. tubar. sinistra and Grav. extraut. tubaria sinistra, are described in detail. This device was judged to be valuable in determining operative conditions of gynecological diseases as well as a useful supplement in diagnostic and therapeutic manipulation.
