Abstract
Objective To study the expression and the mechanism of human progesterone receptor(hPR) isoforms in adenomyosis. Methods Western blot and RT-PCR were employed to investigate the expression of hPR isoforms in ectopic lesion from adenomyosis and normal endometrium from controls.Computer densitomitry was used to study the relative expression of the hPR isoforms at protein and mRNA levels. Results The expressions of hPR isoforms are lower inadenomyosis than in endometrium(P0.05).The concentration of hPR-A was higher than that of hPR-B in both adenomyosis and endometrium.(P0.05).Conclusion The expressions of hPR isoforms are lower in adenomyosis than in endometrium. No significant difference was found between the PR-mRNA in these two tissues. Our data suggest that PR activity can be regulated post-transcriptionally.
