The non-contact voltage measurement technology has received more attention due to its advantages of safety, convenience, and low cost. However, the wire sheath hinders the measurement of voltage. In this paper, a nonintrusive AC voltage amplitude estimation method is proposed. Metal films and insulation films are used to build nonintrusive voltage probe. Outputs of 3 different probes are used to figure out the target wire voltage. The unknown voltage can be obtained simply with the thickness of the films and the output voltages of the probe, which greatly reduces the complexity and cost of manufacture, installation and operation. Simulations are performed to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method and an experiment platform is developed to prove its practicality. The experimental results show that the voltage amplitude estimation errors are less than 3%.
