Clinical analysis between uterus artery embolization and local excision in the treatment of uterine adenomyosis

Objective: To compare the effects between uterus artery embolization and local excision in the treatment of uterine adenomyosis( AM) to provide the basis for clinical AM treatment. Methods: Among the 56 AM patients,27 cases( A group) and 29cases( B group) were treated with local excision and uterine artery embolization,respectively. All cases were followed up for 24 months,the long- and short- term efficacy between two groups were compared. Results: The dysmenorrhea symptoms in two groups were improved after 6,12 and 24 months of operation,the difference of which was not statistically significant( P 0. 05). Compare with that before operation,the uterine volume in two groups were obviously shrinked( P 0. 01). Conclusions: Both uterus artery embolization and abdominal local excision are effective mothods in treating AM,which can reserve uterus for providing the pregnancy chance in the reproductive age women.
