Abstract

Objective To investigate the depressant effect of dexamethasone on angiogenesis of endometriosis. Methods This research included 3 groups (vaccination group, vaccination treating group, and control group). Eutopic endometrium of women with endometriosis was transplanted to the non-vascular region of the 8-day-old chick embryo chorioallantocic membrane (CAM) in vaccination group and vaccination treating group. Image-Pro Plus 6.0 software was used to quantify the angiogenesis area (VA), the total CAM area under the egg shell opening, and the ratio of them (VA/CAM). Results A strong angiogenic response was observed in vaccination group, and the VA/CAM ratio in this group was significantly higher than those in control group and vaccination treating group. Conclusion Eutopic endometrium of endometriosis can induce angiogenesis, but dexamethasone can inhibit this effect.
