Abstract

Objective:To explore the expressions of estrogen receptor α,estrogen receptor β and matrix metalloproteinases-1 in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of patients with adenomyosis and their effects in pathogenesis of adenomyosis.Methods:40 samples of eutopic endometrium and 40 samples of ectopic endometrium from women with adenomyosis and 40 samples of normal endometrium from women with hysteromyoma(control group) were collected;the expression levels of ERα,ERβ and MMP-1 were detected and analyzed by immunohistochemical assay.Results:The expression levels of MMP-1 and ERα in glandular cells of ectopic endometrium in patients with adenomyosis were high,while the expression levels of MMP-1 and ERα in interstitial cells were low,compared with eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium of adenomyosis,there was significant difference;in ectopic endometrium,the expression level of ERβ was significantly higher than that of ERα;there was a correlation between MMP-1 expression and ERβ expression;there was no significant difference in expression levels of ERα,ERβ and MMP-1 between eutopic endometrium and normal endometrium.Conclusion:MMP-1 and ERβ may participate in the occurrence and development of adenomyosis;the changes of ERβ/ERα ratio in ectopic endometrium may indicate that the changes of local hormone receptor microenvironment may play an important role in pathogenesis of adenomyosis.
