This study investigates the "dual-wheel drive" mechanism of these strategies, focusing on the coupling and coordination between rural revitalization and new urbanization within the Yangtze River Economic Belt to promote high-quality and sustainable development. Employing refined coupling coordination degree and relative development degree models, the research analyzes development levels and temporal dynamics across provinces, considering integrated urban-rural and regional coordinated development. Exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) is utilized to examine spatial evolution patterns, complemented by a gray prediction model for forecasting. Results indicate a steady improvement in coupling and coordinated development, yet significant spatial disparities persist, characterized by an east-west gradient. Projections suggest continued enhancement in coupling and coordination levels, approaching optimal coordination, despite persistent developmental disparities in western regions. This research provides a spatio-temporal analysis and strategic recommendations for fostering sustainable and integrated urban-rural development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, offering policy implications for high-quality urban-rural integration.
