Abstract

Gynecologic use of lasers in the performance of operative procedures continues to expand. The potassium-titanyl-phosphate (KTP/532) laser has a wavelength in the visible spectrum and is transmitted along a fiber. This laser was used in the endoscopic treatment of 23 women with a variety of pelvic findings. Procedures performed included adhesiolysis, vaporization of endometriosis, transection of the uterosacral ligaments, and establishment of tubal patency. The laser beam could be delivered readily to the operative field and easily used. The efficacy of these procedures and comparison of the outcome with similar procedures performed by alternative modes remain to be established.
