Abstract

By means of Augospel HT-502S and Ito's improved electrode, we applied iontophoresis of low frequency rectangular pulse wave, introducing P^ into the muscles of the exstirpated uterus under various conditions. Surveyed counts of P^ indicated the following results. (1)The ionic penetrating amount increases in proportion to the concentration. (2) The optimum frequency is 1666 c/s. (3) The addition of hyaluronidase urges the effects of iontophoresis. (4) The optimum time is about 30 minutes (5) The optimum current is about 3 mA. (6) We used a new type of vaginal electrode that we had improved and applied iontophoresis, utilizing P^, to the patient of cervical cancer before opetation. P^ counts were surveyed in all the muscular layers of the exstirpated uterus, the Fallopian tube, the ovarium, the ligaments, the fetus, the placenta and especially in the well-vascularized parts. (7) We compared the effects of intravenous application of P^ with those of vaginal application by means of iontophoresis and we concluded that iontophoresis is a recommendable method of local therapy in the female sex organs.
