Abstract

Recently, at national and global level has been reported an increased incidence of ovarian disease leading to low fertility in females. Furthermore, modern families often choose to procreate at a more advanced age, thus becoming closer to the age of menopause. This issue is of great concern due to its impact on women, families and the overall society. Fortunately, early detection and treatment of ovarian diseases lowers the rates of female infertility, but the perpetuation of the species still remains an important problem. According to the literature review, the most frequent cause of infertility is PCOS; however, another important disease causing discomfort, pelvic pain and infertility is ovarian endometriosis. Compared to previous studies on this topic, our research revealed that a higher percentage of women are affected by endometriosis.
