Expression of HOXA-10 and HOXA-11 in the endometria of women with idiopathic infertility
This study found decreased HOXA-10 and HOXA-11 transcript levels but no significant difference in HOXA-10 protein and increased HOXA-11 protein in the endometria of women with idiopathic infertility compared to controls.

This study measured transcript (by reverse transcription and real-time qPCR) and protein (by Western blot) expression of HOXA-10 and HOXA-11 in endometrial tissue from women with idiopathic infertility (n = 15) and controls (n = 10), focusing on the implantation window, and used immunohistochemistry to assess nuclear localization in endometrial stromal cells. HOXA-10 and HOXA-11 mRNA levels were significantly lower in infertile patients than in controls, but HOXA-10 protein did not significantly differ and HOXA-11 protein was significantly higher in infertile patients. Immunohistochemistry did not show differences in the amounts of HOXA-10 or HOXA-11 protein between groups, and the authors note that gene expression in the implantation window may not be altered at the protein level despite mRNA changes. This paper does not explicitly discuss endometriosis or adenomyosis; it was included in the corpus via a keyword match in the upstream search index.
