Abstract
This study is to improve water quality by removing hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)], nitrate (NO3)and phosphate (PO43-) using a laboratory scale model. For this reason, the concentrations of these pollutants from fertilizer farming operations are increasing daily. In this article, we provide a useful critical overview of the latest experimental and modeling techniques for eliminating contaminants from wastewater through adsorption on the above pollutants. The numerous procedures and experimental investigations are emphasized according to filter material efficiency, removal methods and adsorption effects. The study is based on an experimental setup using Rice Husk Ash (RHA) filter media that is locally available and inexpensive. The nature of RHA is identified by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) analysis. RHA is used as an adsorbent, which allows a maximum removal of Cr(VI), NO3, PO43- is 80.25%, 98% and 80.31% simultaneously for dosage of 80mg/l, 20mg/l & 20mg/l concentrations.
