Universal Submerged Arc Welding (USAW): High Weaving Amplitudes as a New Possibilities to Saw Process

Abstract
Abstract The present work investigated the effects of a submerged arc welding process with high weaving amplitudes (up to 40 mm) on the weld beads morphological aspects. For this purpose, bead-on-plate welding tests with different welding energies and weaving parameters were performed. As a result, weld beads of up to 45 mm width, free of discontinuities, and with flat penetration profiles were obtained. Based on this, we have a single wire process able to fill grooves more efficiently and, at the same time, working for cladding applications.
