Compound Caulis Sargentodoxae granule, particularly at high doses, significantly restrains the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in rats with endometriosis.

Abstract

Objective To explore the difference of the expression of matrix metalloproteinase(MMP-2,MMP-9)between ectopic and eutopic endometrium, and the influence of Compound Caulis Sargentodoxae on them. Methods Rats were divided into eight groups, namely,(castrated group, normal group, groups treated by high,Compound Caulis Sargentodoxae of middle, low dose, and groups treated by Danazol of middle, low dose). The model of endometriosis rat was used. The expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in ectopic and eutopic endometrium was quantitatively assessed by zymography. Results MMP-2 and MMP-9 were detected in both ectopic and eutopic endometrium.High dose of Caulis Sargentodoxae granule and Danazol can significantly restrain the activity of MMP-2 and MMP-9(P0.05),the same as castrated rats. Conclusion Caulis Sargentodoxae Granule can lowdown the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9,which is probably one of the theapeutic mechanisms in treating endometriosis.
