Abstract

To explore the value of serum human epididymis secretory protein 4 levels in the diagnosis of ovarian malignant tumor and gynecological pelvic benign disease, sera were collected from 31 patients with ovarian cancer,44 patients with adenomyosis,32 patients with ovarian cysts,30 patients with endometriosis and 65 healthy volunteers.Serum human epididymis secretory protein 4 levels were measured by ELISA;Serum CA125 levels were measured by chemiluminesent microparticle Immunoassay. The results showed that the levels of human epididymis secretory protein 4 in ovarian cancer were markedly higher than those in gynecological benign groups and controls(P0.01).In addition, the levels of human epididymis secretory protein 4 in gynecological pelvic benign diseases with high CA125 levels had no significant difference compared with the healthy volunteers(P0.05).Human epididymis secretory protein 4 is a new promising tumor marker. It can differentiate malignant ovarian tumors from benign disease.Human epididymis secretory protein 4 may eventually prove to be an important marker in the diagnosis of ovarian cancer.
