Abstract

Analisar as características da Endometriose. Revisão bibliográfica: A endometriose é uma condição inflamatória que depende dos níveis de estrogênio e é benigna, afetando cerca de 5 a 10% das mulheres em idade reprodutiva. No momento atual, há cerca de 190 milhões de mulheres em todo o mundo que sofrem com endometriose. Embora seja uma condição comum e não cancerígena, o crescimento do tecido semelhante ao endométrio em locais fora do útero e a inflamação resultante podem levar a sintomas como cólica menstrual, dor pélvica não relacionada ao ciclo menstrual, dor durante a relação sexual, fluxo menstrual intenso, dificuldade para urinar, dificuldade para evacuar, dor crônica e infertilidade. Considerações finais: A endometriose é um problema de saúde global, afetando mulheres em idade fértil com dor crônica na região pélvica. Essa condição difícil de diagnosticar resulta em custos para o sistema de saúde, perda de trabalho e problemas psicológicos, principalmente relacionados à dor e à infertilidade. O tratamento pode ser tanto clínico quanto cirúrgico, com o objetivo de aliviar os sintomas e levando em consideração o desejo de engravidar ou não. Para aquelas que não desejam engravidar, a primeira opção de tratamento são os contraceptivos orais combinados. No entanto, para aquelas que desejam engravidar, a cirurgia parece ser uma opção viável.
