A Overview of the Spread of Covid-19 in Mexico

Abstract

This investigation shows the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in Mexico, considering the evolution per State from a statistical point of view. First, an analysis of COVID-19 in Mexico by the 32 States was achieved considering the density of population to normalize the data. Three groups were identified considering the rate of spread of the virus: low, medium and high spread of virus in Mexico by state. The maximum spread of the virus was identified in June 2020 for group 1 States, in July 2020 for the second group, and in August 2020 for the third group. Following the analysis, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was implemented in order to explain the spreading of the cases in several States discovering that the population factor was a common in some States; however, in the majority of the States, there was not a correlation. Moreover, the spreading of SARS-CoV-2 was compared with the temperatures and precipitation (canonical analysis) finding some spreading by State in correlation with the temperature and precipitations. Furthermore, analysis of spreading of virus by municipalities also was considered considering the municipalities with high incidence of cases.
