Abstract

Objective Observe and evaluate the medium-term and long-term clinical efficacy and security of a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system for adenomyosis. Methods LNG-IUS were inserted in 33 patients diagnosed as adenomyosis and follow-up observation was in process in 1-5 year respectively. Results In the 2~5th year of LNG-IUS placed in the uterine cavity of patients with adenomyosis, sustainable effectively eased dysmenorrhea, reduced menstrual flow, correspondingly improved the quality of life, to some extent shrinked uterine volume, and effectively controlled the disease progression. Conclusion Inserting LNG-IUS in uterus is an acceptable conservative treatment of adenomyosis with long-term effect and security.
