Abstract
Emerging and modern technologies in education have immensely reformed and redesigned how aspects of teaching and learning communications occur in today's educational environments most especially with the advent of social media platforms which our modern youths have religiously, faithfully and passionately embraced for both positive and negative purposes. A vital focal point in this piece is how youths of higher education construed or misconstrued social media as a form of modern technology and for what purpose it could be effective in promoting teaching and learning most especially within a society with an educational system that faces challenges upon challenges (covid-19 pandemic, academic strikes, school closures, outdated reference materials etc). Therefore this paper examines relevant literatures in an effort to make justice on how positive or negative has social media influences the minds and souls of youths of higher education system in Nigeria.
