Abstract

Objective:To explore the effects of curcumin on growth, apoptotic rate and the caspase-3 gene expression of isolated ectopic endometrium cells in vitro, and to study the drug treatment of endometriosis. Methods:The cells of isolated ectopic endometrium from 22 patients with endometriosis were cultured. In the same growth term, curcumin of different dosage were added. The rates of apoptosis were determined by TUNEL,and the gene expressions of caspase-3 were determined by S-P immunohistochemistry. Results:The speed of cell growth was significantly decreased, and the apoptotic rate and gene expressions of caspase-3 were significantly increased compared with no curcumin. It showed time-dosage dependence. Conclusion:Curcumin can significantly inhibit the growth and proliferation of ectopic endometrium cells in vitro, and the effect maybe related to raising the gene expression of caspase-3 and inducing apoptosis.
