Iterative Approach for Traffic Assignment with Capacity Limits using Taylor Series Approximation
preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
This research study tackles the challenge of achieving user equilibrium traffic assignment in transportation networks while considering capacity constraints. To minimize the overall travel time while adhering to demand and capacity limitations, an iterative solution approach utilizing the second-order Taylor series approximation is proposed. Through numerical examples and simulations, the algorithm’s effectiveness in achieving convergence with a limited number of iterations and obtaining a user-optimized solution is demonstrated. The proposed approach provides valuable insights in optimizing traffic flow allocation when faced with capacity limitations.
