Abstract

Hypereosinophilic dermatitis (HED) is a subtype of hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES). Glucocorticoids are preferred for treatment but could carry a number of significant side effects. Symptoms of HED may recur after systemic glucocorticoid tapering. As a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-4 receptor (IL-4Rα), dupilumab might be an efficacious adjuvant therapy for HED. We report a young male who suffered from erythematous papules with pruritus for over five years. He was diagnosed with HED by the presence of skin tissue with bone marrow and peripheral blood eosinophilia. Once reduction the dosage of glucocorticoid, his skin lesions relapsed. Using dupilumab, his condition significantly improved, and the glucocorticoid amount decreased successfully. In conclusion, we reported a new application of dupilumab in HED patients.
