The Level of Occupational Safety and Health Promotion in Czech Family Manufacturing Enterprises

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to evaluate the level of occupational safety and health (OSH) promotion in micro, small and medium-sized, very often family enterprises in the Czech Republic which is currently also a hot topic in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. Based on the questionnaire created by authors, the aim is to implement research and to find out how Czech family manufacturing enterprises approach OSH promotion. Empirical research methods were used. The survey on a sample of 1056 respondents was implemented. Data were processed using statistical methods. Also, Chi-square test, non-parametric Wilcoxon signed-rank test and ANOVA method were used. The most important finding is that although the situation in conceptional questions of OSH promotion is not good in Czech family manufacturing enterprises, they are still managing implementation of OSH promotion very well. The conducted research can provide guidance on how to assess the level of OSH promotion in such micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. It presents criteria of KPIs, on which it is possible not only to evaluate the OSH support, but also to define activities of which implementation would lead to improvement of OSH promotion. Based on the implementation of this original research, the article provides an insight into the current state of the addressed issue. The paper may be beneficial for practitioners involved in OSH promotion and in another micro, small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises.
