This paper examines two cases of ovarian endosalpingiosis, suggesting that migratory, embryonary, and metaplasic theories may all contribute to the pathogenesis of both endometriosis and endosalpingiosis.

Abstract

Endosalpingiosis of the ovary is considered. It is a finding unfrequently quoted in the literature though it may be a starting point of endosalpingioma. The possibility of mistaking endometriosis with endosalpingiosis and vice versa is mentioned. The two cases under examination are looked upon as a proof that all the three pathogenetic theories of endometriosis and endosalpingiosis (migratory, embryonary, metaplasic) may be accepted.
