Abstract
Objective:To investigate expression of pituitary tumor transforming gene(PTTG),and its correlation with expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1(TIMP-1) in adenomyotic tissue. Methods:The expression of PTTG,MMP-2,and TIMP-1 were detected by immunohistochemistry using SP in 35 cases of the adenomyotic tissue and eutopic endometrium and 24 cases of normal endometrial tissue. Results:Expression of PTTG had statistic difference in the adenomyotic tissue, eutopic endometrium, and normal endometrium(P0.001).PTTG expression in the adenomyotic tissue and eutopic endometrium was higher than normal endometrium(P0.001),but there was no difference between them(P0.05).The expression of MMP-2 in the adenomyotic tissue and eutopic endometrium was higher than that of in the normal endometrial tissue(P0.05).TIMP-1 expression in the adenomyotic tissue was statistically lower than in the normal endometrium(P0.001).PTTG expression had correlation with MMP-2,but not TIMP-1.Conclusions:Higher expressions of PTTG in adenomyotic endometrium will up-regulate MMP-2 and influence TIMP-1 expression. Therefore, endometrium enhances proliferation and invasion, finally result in the infiltrative growth of endometrium.PTTG may play an important role in the development of adenomyosis.
