Abstract

The pension industry has grown rapidly in developed countries, making pension funds one of the largest financial institutions. However, emerging economies like Nigeria haven't seen the same growth. To address this lack in growth, the government implemented several reforms and regulations to encourage investment in pension funds. This study investigates the relationship between pension fund assets and investment income in Nigeria. The study used a mixed-methhods approach, combining textual analysis with data analysis from the National Pension Commission. The textual analysis showed that both pension fund assets and investment income increased. The data analysis confirmed that pension fund assets have a significant positrive effect in investment income. Based on these findings, the stuy recommends cautious investment of pension fund assets which can continue to boost investment income.
