Abstract
In recent decades, information systems (IS) integration has become vital for organizations, as the collaboration among multiple systems and technologies has become priority. Within this context, integrated information systems (IIS) have gained significant importance as a field of scholarly interest. In order to assess this progress, a comprehensive literature review was conducted in this study, analysing 1009 peer-reviewed articles on IIS. The study employed various dimensions and attributes to categorize and classify the articles. Most articles originated from a small group of nations, with the USA being the leading contributor. The absence of a dominant journal suggests the potential advantages of establishing a journal dedicated to IIS research. The study also identified underrepresented sectors and prominent IS related fields within IIS research to highlight areas of focus. Furthermore, the research provides insights into IIS connectivity domains and sub-activities of information systems development (ISD) process, providing valuable guidance for future researchers.
