The paper reconstructs cyclic deposition in the Frasnian Modryń Ramp, a tropical shallow-water, heterozoan-dominated carbonate system, using a continuous, fully cored borehole profile (Korczmin IG 1) from SE Poland. Chronostratigraphy was built from archival and newly obtained conodont data, enabling correlation of most low-frequency transgressive–regressive cycles with Frasnian eustatic sea-level changes, while saw-cut cores, thin sections, wireline logs, magnetic susceptibility, and TOC quantified metre-scale cyclicity across distal-to-proximal ramp facies zones. The authors find that mid-Frasnian central and proximal ramp cycles are mainly tectonically controlled, whereas lower and upper Frasnian distal ramp cyclicity was likely driven by astronomically forced glacio-eustasy modified by autocyclic processes; a key caveat is that this work is presented as a preprint and not peer reviewed. This paper does not explicitly discuss endometriosis or adenomyosis; it was included in the corpus via a keyword match in the upstream search index.

Abstract

Abstract The Modryń Ramp is a rare Frasnian example of a tropical, shallow-water, heterozoan-dominated carbonate depositional system. It is unique due to its partly restricted cyclic sedimentation, characterized by recurring hypoxic and high-salinity conditions in the distal and central ramp zones. Its development has been reconstructed based on a continuous, fully-cored borehole profile Korczmin IG 1 (SE Poland). The chronostratigraphy was established using both archival and new conodont data, which made it possible to correlate most of the low-frequency regional transgressive-regressive cycles with Frasnian eustatic sea-level changes. Saw-cut cores, thin sections, wireline logs, magnetic susceptibility, and TOC data were instrumental in analyzing metre-scale cyclicity patterns characterizing the succession of facies zones, from distal to central and proximal ramp areas. Mid-Frasnian central and proximal ramp cycles are attributed mainly to tectonic controls, whereas lower and upper Frasnian distal ramp cyclicity was likely driven by astronomically forced glacio-eustasy modified by autocyclic processes.
