Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of cycloxygenase(COX-2) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in the women with adenomyosis.Methods:34 cases diagnosed as adenomyosis by pathological examination were research group, and 30 cases diagnosed as uterine myoma were control group. The immunohistochemistry staining was used to observe the expression of COX-2 and VEGF in endometrium of research group and control group. The expressions of COX-2 mRNA and VEGF mRNA were measured by RT-PCR.Results:The expression rates of COX-2 and VEGF protein in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of research group were both higher than those in eutopic endometrium of control group(P0.01).The expression rates of COX-2 and VEGF protein in ectopic endometrium were higher than those in eutopic endometrium of research group(P0.01).The expression rate in ectopic endometrium of research group had no significant difference(P0.05) between the proliferative phase and the secretary phase. The expression of COX-2 and VEGF protein were linearly dependent(γ=0.787,γ=0.562,P0.01).There was obvious COX-2 mRNA expression in ectopic endometrium in research group and there wasn't COX-2 mRNA expression in the normal muscle layer and endometrium in control group. The expression rates of VEGF165 and VEGF121 in the ectopic endometrium in research group were significantly higher than those in control group(P0.01).Conclusion:The high expression of COX-2 and VEGF in the ectopic endometrium of the adenomyosis women may play an important role in the genesis and development of adenomyosis.
